Bruce
Martin,
our Lead Pastor, provides leadership to our ministry team. Bruce brings a
passion for biblical teaching and reaching non-churched people to First
Baptist. Bruce and his wife, Marianne, have three school-age children. Bruce
has pastoral experience in churches in Edmonton (Alberta), Nova Scotia, and B.C. Bruce
is a graduate of the University of Alberta (Ph.D. in education), Acadia
Divinity College/Regent College (Master of Divinity), U.B.C. (M.A. and B.A. in
geography), and the Baptist Leadership Training School. Bruce teaches
regularly at Tyndale Seminary, Toronto.
Chad Dranchuk,
our Youth and Young Adults Pastor coordinates our youth college & career
and young adult ministries. Chad is a gifted musician, with
experience working in churches and Youth for Christ. He is a
graduate of Rocky Mountain College. Chad and his wife, Sarah, have
two young children. Sadly, Chad will be leaving us to continue his
education at the end of this school year. We are excited about God
leading us to find a new person for this key role in our church life.
Ron Harris, our
Associate Pastor (Adult Ministries), is involved in a variety of ministries
including visitation, pastoral care, and adult small groups. Through a unique
partnership with Canadian Baptist Ministries, Ron and his wife, Sharon (see
below), spend several months each year as missionaries in India and several
months on staff at First B! Ron brings a warm, compassionate ministry,
nurtured by pastoral experience at several churches in Alberta. Ron and
Sharon have three grown children and one grandchild. Ron is a graduate of
Acadia Divinity College (Master of Divinity), and the University of Alberta
(B.A.). Ron was ordained in 1974.
Sharon Harris,
our Director of Children’s Ministries, coordinates our children’s
programmes with a warmth and passion
to see children grow in their faith. Sharon and her husband Ron
(see above) spend several months each year as missionaries in India and
several months on staff at First B, through a unique partnership with
Canadian Baptist Ministries! Sharon and Ron have three grown
children and one grandchild.
Sharon has a Bachelor
of Education degree from the University of Alberta.
Kathy Heidebrecht,
part-time Creative Art Director,
coordinates our
Music ministry,
drama and visual arts programs. She brings energy, creativity and
innovation to our church services. Kathy has a
Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of
Education degree from the U of L and an ARCT in piano performance. As
well as teaching piano privately, she currently teaches classes at
Goodlife Fitness and offers a stretch class at the church which is open
to the community. Before coming on staff at First B., Kathy taught band
in Pincher Creek for 8 years. Kathy and her wonderful husband, Ken,
have one amazing son.
